SMS verification (A2P 10DLC)
Register your business with the carriers so you can send appointment reminders and marketing texts.
SMS verification is how your spa gets cleared to send text messages — appointment reminders, confirmations, and marketing — to your clients. US carriers now require every business to register before it can send texts, and this page is where you give Lumè the business details that registration needs. Find it under Organization → SMS verification.
Why this is required
Mobile carriers (the companies that run the cell networks) require every business that sends texts to register what's called an A2P 10DLC brand and campaign. It's an anti-spam rule: it ties each text-sending number to a real, verified business. Until your business is registered and approved, appointment reminders and marketing texts can't be delivered reliably. Filling in this page once gets you registered — the Lumè team handles the submission to the carriers for you.
What to fill in
The form is grouped into four parts. Use your real, legal business details — the carriers check them against official records, and small mismatches are the most common reason a registration is rejected.
- Business — your exact legal business name, business type (LLC, corporation, sole proprietor, and so on), EIN / Tax ID, industry, and website. The legal name and EIN must match your IRS paperwork exactly.
- Registered address — the business address on your registration, plus a business phone and email. Use your legal/registered address, which may differ from a treatment-room location.
- Authorized representative — a real person at your business the carriers can contact to confirm the registration. This is usually the owner or a manager.
- Messaging — one or two example texts a client would receive, and a short description of how clients agree to receive texts (for example, a checkbox when they book online or sign your intake form).
When you save, your details are sent to the Lumè team and the status moves to Submitted. You can keep editing until verification finishes.
What happens after you submit
A status banner at the top of the page tells you exactly where things stand:
- Submitted — the Lumè team has your details and will register them with the carriers.
- In review — your registration is with the carriers, who typically take a few business days.
- Verified — you're approved, and texting is enabled for your spa.
- Needs changes — the carriers couldn't verify the registration. The Lumè team will reach out; most often the legal name or EIN needs to match your IRS records exactly. Update the details and save again to resubmit.
Tips for a smooth approval
- Copy your legal business name and EIN straight from an IRS document — not how the name appears on your signage or website.
- Make sure your website clearly describes your business; the carriers often look at it.
- Write sample messages that look like what you'll actually send, and make the opt-in description specific (where and how clients agree to texts).
SMS verification is managed by the spa owner. If you don't see it in the sidebar, ask your owner to fill it in, or reach the Lumè team through support.
