Payroll

Hours, pay, commission and tips for each person in a pay period, with a CSV for your payroll provider.

Staff → Payroll shows what each person earned in a pay period — hours, base pay, commission and tips — and downloads it as a CSV for your bookkeeper or payroll provider. Owners and managers see it.

Payroll is part of the Pro plan and above.

Lumè doesn't run payroll itself: it doesn't withhold tax, pay anyone or make paystubs. It gives your payroll provider the numbers.

Choosing the pay period

Pick how often you pay — weekly, every two weeks, twice a month (1st–15th and 16th–end of month) or monthly — and Lumè opens the most recent period that has ended. Use the arrows to step back or forward a period. Custom dates lets you choose any range.

Where each number comes from

  • Hours — shifts from the time clock, counted on the day they were clocked in. A shift that's still clocked in isn't counted; Lumè flags it so you can close it in Staff → Check-in first.
  • Overtime — for hourly pay, hours over 40 in a Monday–Sunday week, paid at 1.5×. If your state has different overtime rules, check them with your payroll provider.
  • Base pay — from each person's pay terms on their page under Staff → Employees: hourly rate × hours, or salary divided by the number of pay periods in a year. Commission-only staff have no base pay.
  • Commission — what they earned in the period from commissions, after any refunds.
  • Tips — split into card tips and cash and other tips, because payroll providers report them differently. Tips nobody has been credited with are shown underneath so you can assign them first.

Downloading the CSV

Download CSV gives one row per person with hours, overtime, base pay, commission, both kinds of tips and the total, in dollars and decimal hours — the format payroll providers import.

Anyone missing a pay rate is flagged on the page. Set it on their page under Staff → Employees before you run payroll.
